Characterisation of Environmental Networks interested in international cooperation in the INTERLINK Countries (European Union, Candidate Countries, FP7 Associated Countries, Africa and Newly Independent States)
In the objective to reinforce international cooperation between Europe and third-countries, the Interlink Consortium puts at your disposal on this website the description and contact information of networks of Environmental Science players within the EU, the NIS and Africa which have declared themselves interested in international cooperation.
The networks and actors are expected to contribute to:
Services for EU-FP7 applicants (similar to NCP services)
Scientific input for FP7 Projects in the field of Theme 6 Environment (including Climate Change)
In order to realise this database, a questionnaire has been sent by all the project partners in INTERLINK to the relevant networks they could identify in their country and abroad. The questionnaire is composed of six fields which qualify the network characteristics regarding the membership, the geographical extent, the type of activities and the thematic areas in FP7 concerned.
How the networks were selected
The networks identified by Interlink partners have at least a scientific dimension in the environmental field and/or international orientation. Ideally the networks identified already have experience within FP6 or are highly interested in participating in FP7. There are 3 types of networks that were targeted by the INTERLINK partners:
The first types of networks to be identified were those which have a similar function to the FP7 service networks in the field of “environment and climate change”. e.g. NCPs, Europe Offices at universities.
The second types of networks consist of ‘real research networks' in the field of environment and climate change. These may consist of universities, research institutes or research scientists, private enterprises and industry.
The third category includes research project and programme managers, public entities, donors and investors, NGOs...
